Givens Hot Springs
Givens Hot Springs pumps 117°F water into a swimming pool complex at 2,277 feet in Owyhee County, making it one of the few commercially operated natural hot springs in southwestern Idaho. The site sits near Marsing, where the Snake River Plain meets the Owyhee uplands, in the driest climate zone of any Idaho spring.
The short walk from Givens Lane crosses flat, sun-baked sagebrush terrain before reaching the spring area. Owyhee County stretches out in every direction, brown and gold under a sky that rarely clouds over. With just 11 inches of annual rain, the air stays dry and warm, averaging nearly 57°F year-round. Summer days push well past 90°F, and the surrounding desert stillness amplifies every sound from the water.
The spring has served as a community gathering place since settlers arrived in the region. Its 117°F source temperature, running about 60 degrees hotter than the ambient air, reflects deep circulation through fractured volcanic rock along the margins of the western Snake River Plain. Ranchers and travelers have used these waters for generations, long before any formal development.
The spring sits about 360 feet from Givens Lane, an easy walk on level ground. Southwestern Idaho summers are intensely hot, so spring and fall visits offer the most comfortable soaking weather. Snow is minimal at under 14 inches per year. Bring sun protection year-round, as shade is scarce in this open landscape.
